Russian Wildrye, Bozoisky II

Russian Wildrye, Bozoisky II

Bozoisky II Russian Wildrye is a long-lived, cool-season perennial bunchgrass developed for dryland pastures and rangeland restoration. It was released by the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Logan, Utah, selected for seedling vigor, drought tolerance, and forage production.  Provides high quality early-season forage, and excellent winter grazing retaining good protein levels and good standability in early winter.  Bozoisky II is exceptionally winter hardy and drought resistant, thriving in semi-arid rangelands and heavy salty soils.  Also useful for rangeland restoration, erosion control and wildlife habitat improvement.

Planting Guide:
Russian wildrye requires special attention during the year it is seeded because it is difficult to establish. It must be planted in a firm, weed-free seedbed at ¼ inch depth or less. Wide row spacing plantings, 18 inches or greater, are recommended. The recommended seeding rate at this spacing is 8 pounds per acre.
