Crested Wheatgrass, Hycrest / Hycrest II

Crested Wheatgrass, Hycrest / Hycrest II

Hycrest and Hycrest II are hybrid Crested Wheatgrasses developed for improved seedling vigor and quicker establishment compared to traditional types of crested wheatgrass. It tolerates drought, cold, and poor soils, making it an excellent choice for dryland pastures and conservation plantings. With its robust early growth, Hycrest is ideal for early spring grazing and works well as stock - piled winter forage. Perfect for landowners needing fast ground cover and reliable forage in arid and semi-arid regions.

Planting Guide:
Crested wheatgrass should be seeded with a drill at a depth of 1/2 inch or less on medium to fine textured soils. Single species seeding rates recommended for all crested wheatgrasses are 8 to 12 pounds or 20 to 30 seeds per square foot. If used as a component of a mix, adjust to percent of mix desired. For critical areas, increase the seeding rate to 40 to 50 seeds per square foot. Mulching and light irrigations on highly disturbed areas are beneficial for stand establishment.
