Forage Kochia, Immigrant
‘Immigrant’ Forage Kochia is the most widely planted variety of forage kochia in North America. Selected for cold-hardiness and consistent performance in harsh climates, it establishes quickly and is productive even under extreme drought. It supports livestock through winter with protein levels that are maintained well into winter, making forage kochia a valuable component in winter range. Common in reseeding programs and fire-recovery zones due to its competitive establishment and soil stabilization benefits.
Planting Guide:
For wildlife plantings, forage kochia should be used as part of a seed mixture. In mixes, seeding rates range from 0.25 to 1.0 lb per acre. Stand alone drill seeding is 1-2 lbs/acre; should be planted 1/16 inch in depth
