Teff

Teff

Teff is a warm-season, fast-growing annual grass originally from Ethiopia, gaining popularity in the U.S. as a high-quality forage and hay crop. It produces fine stems and leafy biomass that are highly digestible for horses, cattle, and small ruminants. Teff is especially valued in regions with short or unpredictable growing seasons because of its quick maturity (often within 45–55 days) and adaptability to various soils. It’s an excellent option for double cropping, emergency forage, and low-input systems. Teff is not frost tolerant and loves hot weather and creates hay that is similar to Timothy.

Planting Guide:
Stand alone drill seeding is 8-12  lbs/acre;  12-18lb/acre when broadcast; 2-5 lbs/acre in mixes; should be planted 1/8-1/4 inch in depth
